Family suffers loss of a loved one after fatal head-on accident

When driving along the road in Lake Charles and throughout Louisiana, even the most cautious and alert people are not expecting another vehicle to veer into their lane. When the vehicle comes from the other side of the road and is heading in the wrong direction, there are few places to go even if the driver has the quick reactions to try and avoid an accident. With a head-on crash, the chances of severe injuries and fatalities are substantial. There is rarely a reasonable explanation as to why a vehicle goes into the opposite lanes and drives into traffic, so when there is a crash, those who have been hurt or the family of a person who died must remember their rights to seek compensation.

A head-on accident led to the death of a passenger. The accident happened at around 3:00 p.m. when a 2015 GMC Sierra went across the median and collided head-on with a 2017 Toyota Prius. The passenger in the Prius, a 68-year-old woman, was declared dead at the site of the crash. The driver, a 68-year-old man, was not hurt. The female driver of the Sierra, 57, had minor injuries. She received a citation for careless operation. Toxicology tests were taken and the investigation is continuing.

An untimely death can have a massive impact on a family. Regardless of the person’s age, the act of simply driving or riding in a vehicle should not lead to a fatal accident. However, danger is everywhere and a major part of it stems from other people making errors, behaving irresponsibly or doing things they should not. After a fatal accident, the family left behind must consider various contributions the person made financially and personally. That is before thinking about the loss of a loved one in emotional terms. A legal filing cannot bring the person back, but it can assist in moving forward.

A woman who was riding in a vehicle died when another vehicle went over the median and there was a head-on collision. While the case is being investigated, the woman’s family must ensure they are protected. Speaking to a law firm that has experience in wrongful death cases is critical to take the proper steps to file a lawsuit to receive compensation.
