Vehicle crossing into opposite lane leads to fatal accident

When out on the road in Louisiana, there is an expectation that other drivers will follow the law, operate their vehicles safely and take the necessary steps to avoid crashes with other drivers. Unfortunately, there are times when accidents will happen for a variety of reasons, including driving under the influence, operating the vehicle recklessly, driving while drowsy or simply because the driver makes a mistake. This can result in injuries and, in a worst-case scenario, wrongful death. People who have been hurt or suffered the loss of a loved one in a car accident may need legal help in considering a lawsuit.

A highway accident led to the death of a 32-year-old woman recently. Two children in the vehicle, a 2014 Nissan Altima, were injured and taken for treatment. One was in the intensive care unit. The accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. A woman in another vehicle who was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox crossed from her lane into the lane of the Altima. It hit the driver's side. The driver of the Altima was declared dead at the site of the crash. The driver of the Equinox is being tested for intoxication, but she is not believed to have been impaired.

With a car crash in which children were involved and injured, and a parent was killed, there will be many issues that must be addressed. There will be medical expenses for the injured and the multiple problems that must be dealt with after a fatality. Funeral costs, pain and suffering, lost companionship, lost income and other factors must be handled. Insurance companies cannot be relied upon to adequately pay the family for all they have lost. A legal filing is often the only method to maximize compensation and give the family left behind what it needs.

In this car accident, a mother was killed when a vehicle crossed into the lane she was driving in. Her children were also injured. The investigation is ongoing. The family should make certain to protect its interests and have assistance from a law firm that is experienced in wrongful death cases so they can seek compensation in a lawsuit.
