Auto accident between car and motorcycle kills rider

Motorcyclists in Louisiana face dangers that those in conventional vehicles do not. Regardless of the safety precautions that riders might take, they can suffer catastrophic injuries, and even death, in a crash. Oftentimes, these are motorcycle-car accidents that happen when a vehicle does not see the motorcycle because of negligence or distraction. The rider who has been injured and the family of a rider who lost his or her life may want to have legal assistance for a full crash reconstruction so they can pursue compensation in a lawsuit.

According to a news report, an accident between a car and a motorcycle led to the motorcyclist's death recently. The accident happened when the 42-year-old rider on a 2002 Harley Davidson was heading straight and a vehicle turned in front of him. The vehicle, a 2014 Nissan Altima, was being driven by a 20-year-old woman. The motorcycle hit the car's passenger side and the rider was thrown. He was wearing a helmet that had been approved by the Department of Transportation, but was pronounced dead at the site of the accident. The driver of the Altima suffered minor injuries and she was taken to the hospital. The case is still being investigated to determine if impairment was a factor.

Drivers are responsible for keeping an eye on everything they might encounter on the road and adhere to the law when doing so. That includes motorcycles. The common excuse of failing to see the motorcycle and therefore not yielding to it is not a sufficient reason, especially after a fatal accident. A motorcycle accident with injuries can result in significant medical costs, lost time on the job and health issues that can last a lifetime. With a fatal motorcycle accident, the family members of the person who died will have financial, emotional and personal realities to deal with. A lawsuit is often the only strategy to recover sufficient compensation.

In the aftermath of the recent incident, the man's family will likely want to make certain it protects its rights by speaking to an attorney and taking the necessary steps to pursue a legal filing.
