Driver loses control and hits bicyclist in car crash

Many Louisianans prefer to get exercise when they go from one place to another. They will leave the car at home and use a bicycle. While this is beneficial for the person's health, can save money and is good for the environment, there is no doubt that regardless of the safety precautions that bicyclists take, they are notoriously vulnerable to injury and death in car accidents. When there is a car crash with a bicycle, and the bicyclist is injured or killed, the bicyclist and his or her family must be cognizant of what they will face in the aftermath and consider a legal filing to be compensated.

A 64-year-old man was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a car. The accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle, age 22, lost control of his 2015 Chevrolet Impala. He is believed to have overcorrected when he ran off the road. He crossed the center line and hit the bicyclist. The Chevy flipped over and a passenger in it, also age 22, was ejected. The passenger's injuries are being described as mild to major. A second passenger in the vehicle, also age 22, was only minorly injured and declined to be treated. The bicyclist was declared dead at the site of the crash. The crash reconstruction and investigation is ongoing, but law enforcement does not believe that the driver was impaired.

After a fatal bicycle accident, there will be numerous issues that the family left behind must navigate. It can seem overwhelming. First, there will be the funeral expenses. Then the will need to come to accept that their loved one was killed in an auto accident in a personal, financial and emotional way. There can be many unforeseen problems that will come to the forefront and it can be easy to forget that the accident did not need to happen. Insurance companies might offer a settlement to keep a case from going to court, but whatever they offer is rarely sufficient when everything is calculated. This is when it is essential to have legal assistance.

In this crash, a driver is believed to have lost control of his vehicle, overcorrected and gone into the opposite lanes of the road where he hit a bicyclist. As a result, the bicyclist died. Louisianans who find themselves in situations like this may want to seek assistance from an attorney experienced in helping clients recover compensation after a fatal auto accident.
