Jennings man killed in car accident

On Behalf of | Feb 6, 2014 | Car Accidents

Many people enjoy Louisiana winters for the warmer weather. People may believe that Louisiana are immune from the snow, icy and cold that plagues much of the Northern United States during the winter months. However, this winter has created crippling winter conditions for many areas across the country — including here in Louisiana.

Recently, an icy overpass has been blamed for causing an accident that killed a Jennings, Louisiana man. According to reports, a 60-year-old man was driving on I-10 in a 1997 Dodge Avenger when he lost control over the vehicle while driving over an icy overpass. When the driver lost control, the vehicle came into contact with an 18-wheeler and a car accident occurred. The driver of the Dodge did not survived the accident. The truck driver was not hurt in the incident.

Police are still investigating this fatal car crash. Reports say that routine toxicology reports have been submitted to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in collision.

Driving too fast for the conditions, distracted driving, drunk driving and other negligent behaviors can all lead to serious car accidents. These accidents may leave victims with serious medical expenses and long lasting injuries. Fatal car accidents can leave families without a source of income and reeling for the death of their loved one.

Drivers across the state of Louisiana need to understand the dangers of driving in winter conditions. These conditions require drivers to slow down and watch for other drivers. If a negligent driver does not account for the conditions and causes a car accident, that driver can be held liable for any damages that occur.
