Are men more likely to text while driving?

We see texting drivers everywhere. Some people think that they are immune to car accidents in Lake Charles, and they are better multitaskers than most people. A new study found that men are more likely than women to think that they can safely text while driving.

Although women typically send more text messages than men, the fact doesn't translate into women texting more while behind the wheel. According to the study, men may text more behind the wheel because they think they can multitask, despite only 3 percent of the population being able to multitask effectively at anything.

When a person is distracted from texting while driving, they put themselves and others at risk of being involved in a severe car accident. These accidents likely happen in Louisiana everyday. People need to limit the number of devices that might distract them while in the car. If a person must use a GPS, it should be programmed before they leave. If they need to use the phone, they might want to pull over to the side of the road or exit the highway.

This new study might not send a message directly to young men and women who drive, but it can help researchers better understand who is at the most risk of causing texting-while-driving accidents and help campaigns target certain groups of people to raise awareness of this issue.

People who are injured by texting drivers might be wise to speak with a Lake Charles personal injury attorney. They can help a victim seek compensation to pay for injury related expenses.
