David Hanchey

David Hanchey is from Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he graduated from Barbe High School in 1981. David attended Louisiana State University, where he obtained a finance degree in 1985 and a JD in 1989. After law school, he clerked for United States District Judge Donald E. Walter in the Western District of Louisiana. David then went to work for the largest law firm in Baton Rouge, where he became a partner in 1996. While in Baton Rouge, David did legal work for Fortune 500 companies, national insurance companies, higher educational institutions, and many other types of businesses and entities. In 1999, David moved back to Lake Charles.  Since that time, David's law practice has concentrated on representing individuals in litigation involving personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, automobile and trucking crashes, injuries and diseases caused by chemical exposures and defective products, hurricane insurance claims, and various other types of cases.  David has successfully tried numerous cases to juries and judges in both state and federal courts.  He has participated in four cases resulting in settlements or judgments of over $10,000,000.00 and many others over $1,000,000.00.  He has received the highest rating of “A” by attorneys and judges in Martindale Hubble. 

David is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association.  He has taught continuing legal education courses for LSU Law School, the Louisiana Association for Justice, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, and the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association in the areas of insurance law, ethics, and professionalism. He has also served as a past president of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association and as a board member of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association, the Southwest Louisiana Bar Foundation, Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School, Southwest Louisiana Junior Achievement, and the Lake Charles Junior League.

David is married to the former Roberta Rouadi.  He has three children, Brian, Scott, and Kristen, and two grandchildren, Peyton and Nora Beth.
