Couple sues company and driver after a commercial vehicle accident

Some of the most egregious car accidents occur within a blink of an eye. That was the case for a local couple, whose journey on a Louisiana road was instantaneously turned upside down.

The couple recently initiated a lawsuit against a construction company and one of its employees. According to the matter, the couple asserts that they were injured when they collided with construction equipment, which rolled into the path of their vehicle on the road. The suit was filed in the 24th Judicial District Court in February 2014.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs explain that they were driving their Toyota Camry on Chickasaw Avenue in Metairie, Louisiana, in October 2013. All of a sudden, a Bobcat construction vehicle, which was driven by the defendant employee, backed out of a nearby lot into the plaintiffs’ vehicle. In the matter, the man and woman claim that the accident resulted in severe shoulder, neck, back and head injuries.

Moreover, the defendant employee is accused of other driving citations, including reckless driving; failing to keep a lookout; operating a construction vehicle without a license or proper training; and failing to see what should have been observed. In this suit, the plaintiffs are pursuing damages for related medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, anxiety, lost earnings and reduced earning capacity.
